Own your own piece of history in Southern Cabbagetown; the building that the Toronto Evening Telegram once called home at 264 Seaton St. was established in the 1930’s but is now the site of the ten-unit Evening Telegram Lofts, featuring 14-foot ceilings and private roof terraces. Your living room and kitchen are separated by beautifully-constructed, ornate wooden doors that belonged to the Evening Telegram newspaper’s front entrance, perfect for those days you are entertaining and don’t have time to restore the kitchen to a viewable condition by the time your guests arrive!
On the edge of Cabbagetown, your neighborhood is a picturesque community of preserved Victorian homes. In the 1840‘s, this area was the stomping ground of Irish immigrants, so poor they were said to have grown cabbages in their front yards. Today, this area of Toronto is filled with gourmet shops, popular upscale boutiques, and vintage clothing stores, and you are more likely to find cabbage at the local farmers market at nearby Riverdale Farm than in the front yards of any of your neighbors! A visit to this farm will truly take you back to simpler times; delight in the delicious scent of bread being baked in the wood-fired brick oven, chat with a farmer as you purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at the farmers market, meander through the shady wooded areas or ponder days gone by as you take a stroll around the pond. Return to present times as you explore the Cabbagetown Short Film & Video Festival, chat with the locals at the friendly neighborhood bars and trendy cafes, and enjoy the convenience of the TTC right on your doorstep; past meets present at the Evening Telegram, and your Toronto lofts home in this beautiful building puts you in the centre of it all.
